The eBOM comparison tool in Aletiq allows you to instantly visualise discrepancies — between two products or two indices — to understand changes and share analysis with ease.
This can be particularly useful for:
Preparing a technical review
Checking the impact of a change
Analysing a change between two indices
Formalising discrepancies before product validation
How to start the comparison?
Open the Products tab.
Click on ‘Compare eBOMs’.
Select the two eBOMs you want to compare.
👉 By default, when you select a product, Aletiq takes the latest known revision, regardless of its status. Remember to check that you are comparing the correct indices.
How to understand the eBOM comparison screen
The principle is simple:
The eBOM on the left serves as a reference (source).
The eBOM on the right is compared to the one on the left.
The ‘Change’ column in the eBOM on the right shows you the types of changes detected.
If necessary, you can reverse the eBOMs to analyse discrepancies in the other direction. This is very useful when you want to understand the impact of a new version compared to the old one — or vice versa.
Filter to get to the essentials
You can filter the display according to the ‘Type of change’. And if you want an even more concise view, tick ‘Differences only’.
Adapt the display to your needs
Depending on your context (quick analysis or detailed understanding of the structure), choose the most relevant display format:
Flat list
Structured list (multi-level)
Search both eBOMs simultaneously
The search bar filters both structures at the same time. Depending on the size of the eBOM, this is very useful for analysing a specific component and immediately seeing whether it is present, modified or absent on one side or the other.
Navigation and useful actions
The ⋯ menu (three dots) allows you to:
Change the product and return to the initial selection screen
Open the product page directly
The comparison can be exported in CSV (Excel) format for sharing or archiving your analysis.
Compare product definitions (top level)
When you hover over a product line (in the left or right eBOM), ‘View differences’ is displayed only when there is a discrepancy. ‘View details’ simply allows you to view the product definitions when both sides are identical.
A banner opens at the bottom of the screen.
You will see a mirror comparison of the two product definitions.
