Aletiq Parts page

Manage parts properties and approval workflows

Written by Valentin Coquant

💡 The Parts space allows you to manage and contextualise parts created and modified with the CAD plugin. Users without a CAD licence can also access it to view parts and download them in .step format.

Navigating the Parts space

Accessible from the Files tab, the Parts (or Standard parts) space works like all other Aletiq spaces: filters, views and search by ID or name.

Parts now display thumbnails directly in lists to make navigation easier.

A quick copy button lets you grab a part's ID or name in one click.

On standard parts, it is possible to perform batch actions on a multiple selection.

Part detail panel

From the detail panel, you can:

  • View and edit the part's properties

  • Access revisions: view, download, update

  • Launch a validation workflow for a 3D, or a signature, validation and distribution workflow for a 2D drawing, directly from the Workflow tab

  • Download in the native format or .step for parts and assemblies, .pdf or .dwg for drawings

💡 The properties displayed on a part depend on its class. Admins can bind properties to specific object classes, so each part only shows the properties that actually apply to it.

Part revision statuses

A part revision can go through four statuses:

  • 📝 Draft — being modified

  • 🔍 In Review — submitted for validation, pending approval. You can submit a single revision or recursively pass an assembly and all its children to In Review. This status can also be triggered via an automated workflow task.

  • Validated — approved, locked

  • Obsolete — no longer applicable in production, kept for historical reference

When updating a part via drag and drop, you can choose to mark the previous revision as obsolete directly in a single action.

3D viewer

The 3D viewer now opens in a dedicated page for more space. It lets you:

  • View the part or assembly in 3D

  • Take measurements (angles and distances) directly in the viewer

  • Leave comments with threads, read/unread tracking and a dedicated side panel

SolidEdge and NX formats are now supported for upload, BOM analysis and 3D preview.
