🎯 Thanks to the plug-in in Catia, Aletiq's PDM makes it easy to create and update parts, as well as streamlining file management and organisation.

Opening Catia and the Aletiq plug-in

The Aletiq <> Catia plug-in lets you choose which version of Catia to launch when the session starts up

💡 It is best to open the Aletiq <> Catia plug-in first in order to choose which version of Catia to launch for the work session.

Using the Aletiq plug-in in Catia

Viewing or modifying a part from the Catia plug-in

From the Aletiq <> Catia plug-in, you can view or modify a component, assembly or drawing.

  1. Modifying ✏️ a part that has already been validated automatically creates a new draft revision.

    1. When modifying a part, you need to select the parts to be blocked🔒 for other users (the parts you are going to work on),

    2. It will still be possible to work on unblocked parts 🔓 but at the risk of causing a modification conflict with another designer.

  2. Viewing 👁️ a part does not lead to the creation of a new revision on Aletiq and opens the part in read-only mode on Catia.

💡Good to know!

  • You can access the room on the Aletiq WebApp from the plug-in by clicking Open in Aletiq ⤴️

Creating a new part on the Aletiq WebApp using the plug-in

The plug-in makes it easy to create a new part from your design software.

  1. Open an assembly in Catia

  2. Click on Add to Aletiq to create the part in the PDM

  3. Fill in the part information then click on Confirm

  4. View the newly created part:

    1. In the Aletiq pane, search for the part number in the search bar

    2. On the part, click on View

💡Good to know!

  • When creating a new CAD file, it is not necessary to save it locally before creating the part in Aletiq.

  • A part not created in the PDM is identified by the words Part not followed by Aletiq.

View and update an assembly and its components

PDM makes it easy to modify one or more parts and track changes.

  1. Viewing a part does not create a new revision on Aletiq, but opens the part in read-only mode on Catia.

  2. Open an assembly then click on Modify

  3. Lock the assembly and the components to be modified

  4. Modify the components directly in your design software

  5. Save the modifications made to the assembly:

    1. In the Aletiq pane for the Active Part, click on Save modifications

    2. Confirm that the assembly has been updated with the associated revisions

💡Good to know!

  • It is now possible to duplicate and insert a component in an open assembly.

  • If the status of the last revision of a part is Released, modifying the part automatically results in the creation of a new revision in Draft state.

  • It will still be possible to work on non-blocked parts, but at the risk of creating a modification conflict with another designer.

Manage, from Aletiq, the applicability of the part and its contextualisation

  • Validate the new revision of the part (assembly and components) in Aletiq

  • Toggle the old revision to Obsolete

  • Export a STEP version of the part

  • Consult the BOM to check that there are no missing components

  • Link the part to an existing product

💡Good to know!

  • It is possible to view the part and generate a STEP file without having a CAD licence.

  • Only an administrator can change the status of a revision back from Obsolete to Released, and from Released to Draft.

🆕 New Features on our Plug-In

  • Create new parts directly in Aletiq.
When creating a new component, you no longer need to save the part locally before saving it in Aletiq.

  • Access your work more quickly.
You can now filter parts associated with your development project.

  • Collaborate on an assembly.
It is now possible to collaborate on the same assembly using the plugin. Locking the main assembly is no longer mandatory to make modifications.

  • Quickly identify modified elements.
Modified components are automatically detected and updated by default through the plugin when saving an assembly on Aletiq.

  • Duplicate and insert components.
You can duplicate and insert a component into an open assembly via the plugin.
