Learn How to Create a New Project Template in Aletiq

Written by Baptiste Depoers

A project is a collection of tasks, milestones, and deliverables planned over time.
It helps structure long and complex business processes.

💡 A project template is a predefined structure of tasks, milestones and deliverables, designed to standardise and speed up the launch of similar projects. It avoids starting from scratch each time and reduces the risk of poor planning.

⛔ Only Admin accounts can create and modify project templates.

🆕 Create a new template

  1. Go to the Templates section from the Projects page

  2. Click + New template

  3. Enter a template name and a generic project name — this name will appear in the properties of every project created from this template, making it easy to identify the project type from the homepage

Structure tasks and milestones

Add as many tasks and milestones as needed. You can group them into Phases to improve visualisation and navigation.

For each task or milestone, you can:

  • Define an assignee, a duration and the expected deliverables (documents or CAD parts)

  • Create dependencies between tasks to model the logical sequence of steps

  • Reschedule tasks directly on the Gantt chart

Once everything is configured, click Create a project template to validate it and make it available.

Duplicate an existing template

You can duplicate an existing template to quickly create a variant without starting from scratch — useful for similar projects with slight structural differences.

Edit an existing template

You can modify a template at any time to adapt it to evolving processes:

  • Add or remove tasks and milestones

  • Edit deliverables, assignees, dependencies and timelines

⚠️ Modifying a template has no impact on projects already launched from it. Only new projects will benefit from the changes.

Delete a template

Delete a template that has become obsolete or unused to keep your list clean.

⚠️ Deleting a template has no impact on projects already created from it. It simply prevents new projects from being created based on that template.
