Launch and Manage a Project

Initiate and drive your project forward in Aletiq

💡 Admin and Manager accounts can create projects. The creator automatically becomes the project owner.

Create a new project

From the Projects page, click + New project. Two options:

  • From a template — tasks, milestones and deliverables are preconfigured by an Admin. Simply choose the template, name the project and set a start date.

  • Blank sheet — start a project without a predefined structure. Only the name and the owner are required.

Planning a project by end date (backward planning)

When creating a project from a model, you can now choose to plan by end date instead of start date.

👉 By selecting End date, the project's task dates are automatically calculated backward from this deadline (backward planning), instead of being calculated forward from a start date. This is useful when the project is constrained by a fixed deadline (customer delivery, commercial milestone...) and the final deadline should drive the schedule, rather than the start date.

Customize your own project

From the project settings, you can also:

  • Add an image to visually identify the project

  • Edit the distribution scope to control who can see the project

  • Delete the project if needed

Link objects to the project

Aletiq lets you centralise all technical data related to a project. From the Documents, Parts or Products tabs of the project:

  • Click ♾️ Link documents (or parts / products) to attach existing objects

  • Or create a new object directly — it will be automatically linked to the project

💡 Access rules can be configured on documents, parts and products linked to a project to restrict their visibility to a short list of users. Useful for confidential or limited-scope projects. This configuration is reserved for Admins.

Associate deliverables with tasks

Each task can include one or more deliverables (documents or CAD parts). From the Tasks page:

  • Click on a task to view its details

  • Click + Document or + Part to link a deliverable and its revision

  • Link or duplicate an existing object, or create one directly from the task

Track project progress

  • The project Home page displays ongoing tasks and deliverables, as well as the overall completion rate

  • The Tasks page (Gantt) provides a full timeline view — you can edit the duration of an open task directly from this view

  • Update the status of deliverables then the task status as work progresses

Add tasks and milestones during the project

At any time, you can add new tasks, milestones and deliverables from the current date onwards.

⚠️ Remember to update dependencies between tasks and milestones to keep the schedule consistent.

⚠️ It's possible to create a task without assigning an owner to it. In that case, the task's status naturally cannot be changed until an owner has been assigned.

The project owner can edit deadlines and deliverables across all tasks without needing to be assigned to each one individually.

You receive a notification 🔔 when a task is assigned to you, when you can start a task (dependencies cleared) or when a deadline is approaching.

Synchronised scheduling

ℹ️ Enable the Synchronised scheduling option so that dragging and dropping a task automatically shifts all dependent tasks. Ideal for quickly rescheduling a project without manually recalculating each step.

Delete a project

  • A project, regardless of its status ("In progress", "Completed" or "Abandoned"), deleted by a user with an Admin or Manager role, cannot be found under the "Objects to restore" tab in the Aletiq administration. If this affects you, do get in touch with your Customer Success contact, who will be happy to help.

  • The same applies to project tasks: a deleted task cannot be restored.
