🔐 This article is intended only for Aletiq administrators and IT managers.

In this article, you will learn how to:

  • download the CAD plug-in,

  • install it workstation by workstation or centrally,

  • log in to Aletiq from the CAD software.

Compatible software: SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor, AutoCAD, Creo, Solid Edge and NX (see supported versions).

Prerequisites

  • Have the Admin role in Aletiq to download the file.

  • Have installation rights on the Windows workstation.

  • Know your Aletiq URL: app.aletiq.com (Europe 🌍) or app-us.aletiq.com (US 🌎).

Download the CAD plug-in

📢 A new place to download your plugins

The latest versions of the plugin installers can be found in the Aletiq admin panel:

💡 Your browser may block the download. This is normal: the file comes from a SaaS application, so from the internet. Click … > Keep, then Keep anyway.

Install the CAD plug-in

Workstation by workstation

As an Admin, once the .msi is downloaded, you can share it with the design office users, who then install it on their PC.

  • Close the CAD software.

  • Double-click the .msi file, paste your Aletiq URL and follow the instructions.

Centrally by the IT department (a whole design office)

Send the .msi file and your Aletiq URL to your IT department. The IT department installs it in silent mode from a Windows administrator terminal, for instance for CREO cadsoftware :

msiexec /i "CreoPluginInstaller-v1.4.5.msi" /qn CONNECTION_URL="app.aletiq.com"

Adapt the file name and the CONNECTION_URL value to your CAD software and your Aletiq URL. This command can be included in a GPO to equip all workstations at once.

Log in to the CAD plug-in

  • Open your CAD software: an Aletiq panel appears.

  • Log in with your usual Aletiq credentials.

✅ All done! To discover what you can do with the plug-in, see Using a CAD plugin.

SolidWorks: recommended settings

🚨 Important: To ensure your SolidWorks BOMs display correctly

  • In Options > Performance, change the following settings:

  • Tick ‘Manually manage Resolved and Lightweight modes’

  • Tick ‘Always resolve sub-assemblies’

  • Set the ‘Check for obsolete lightweight components’ option to ‘Always resolved’

  • Set the ‘Resolve lightweight components’ option to ‘Always’

Update your CAD plug-in

  • Workstation by workstation: uninstall the previous version (Windows + X > Installed apps > Aletiq plug-in > … > Uninstall), then install the new one.

  • Centrally: send the new version to the IT department, which removes the previous one and deploys the new one.
